Hi, my name is Hossein Diba, and I’m a CG character artist(modeler,texturer)
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
actually because I started CG when I was 17, I didn’t test any other job, just used to draw for fun, lucky me ๐
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Evolve, Batman Arkham knight, Fallout New Vegas mod, Golden luck(A short animation),The Return(An animation featured film)
Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I’m from Iran, there was a friend of mine who was a 3d generalist and suggested me, my brother and bunch of other friends to gather together so that he could teach us CG stuff and he did it for free!
What’s a typical day like for you with regards to your job?
everyday is a new adveture, because while you are creating something, you will have to search for references and you are lucky if you are asked to create all different kind of things because that means you will surfe through the net for different subjects which is fun for me.
What part of your job do you like best? Why?
sculpting and painting textures, I guess because in this stages you will figure out whether what you are creating is cool or not ๐
What part of your job do you like least? Why?
render times are joy killer!
What kind of technology do you work with on a daily basis, how has technology changed in the last few years in your field and how has that impacted you in your job?
well, softwares are getting better and better. that means that artists will have more time to spend on their ideas and wont have technical issues to worry about. I think art will be the only thing artists will have to think about and work on it in near future.
What is the most difficult part for you about being in the business?
Working with some people who dont apprecieate what we do, they dont take it serously and thats not really cool.
If you could change the way the business works and is run how would รย you do it?
I would give a bit more credits to 3d modelers and CG artists in general. what we are doing is really tough, I guess lots of people don’t know that!
In your travels, have you had any brushes with animation greatness?

Describe a tough situation you had in life.
Leaving Iran and my family might have been the most difficult thing I’ve ever done!
Any side projects you’re working on that you’d like to share details of?
I’m working on some really cool projects but I’m not allowed to share details yet.
Any unusual talents or hobbies like tying a cherry stem with your tongue or metallurgy?
No, not really ๐
Is there any advice you can give for an aspiring animation student or artist trying to break into the business?
I share my own experience with them, for a long time, you might not get noticed for what you do, but it should’t let you down, you should go after your dreams even when everything around you says not, I’m sure anyone who has talent and practices a lot, will gain what he desires, cheers to you all ๐
