Briefly sold discount golf course memberships door-to-door with a co-worker called Alfie.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I’m probably most happy with my own short films.
How did you become interested in animation?
An extension from an interest in film in general.
Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?Â
From the Southeast and, excluding brief excursions, I’m still fairly outside the business.
What’s a typical day like for you with regards to your job?Â
I’m usually up till 3am working on projects and the kids won’t let me sleep past 7.
What part of your job do you like best? Why?Â
That moment when you feel a project is finished and the next idea is burning to get going.
What part of your job do you like least? Why?
Balancing projects that keep the lights on and projects that make life worthwhile becomes tiresome.
What is the most difficult part for you about being in the business?
What the business deems as profitable.
What kind of technology do you work with on a daily basis?Â
Computers and its ilk.
In your travels, have you had any brushes with animation greatness?Â
Not sure.
Describe a tough situation you had in life.Â
Every day’s a struggle over what I should and shouldn’t be doing.
Any side projects or you’re working on or hobbies you’d like to share details of?Â
I’ve been trying to finish a longer film that just refuses to be completed, forcing me to continually put it on hold and concentrate on more manageable ideas.
Is there any advice you can give for an aspiring animation student or artist trying to break into the business?
Pray you get lucky and try not to let your addictions get the best of you.
