What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Nelson Recinos I am an animation producer, line producer, director, creative director, art director, and creator. I also clean my home office and take care of everything that’s needed on the projects I am working on.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
One of my first jobs was painting motorcycle helmets. I thought that, because of my art background, I was going to be able to do the job, but it was not as easy as I thought. I got training and after a few days I started working on production…which didn’t go very well. I messed up a few helmets, paint spilled everywhere, and nothing was evenly painted. The manager was understandably pissed, but moved me to another department instead of firing me. What a nice guy!

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I had the opportunity to work on some amazing shows such a Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs. I also animated some of the Warner Bros. classic characters such as Bugs Bunny, Duffy Duck, Tweety, Sylvester, and many others.

How did you become interested in animation?
I always liked cartoons since I was a kid. I drew all the time. Back in my country, my brother Bill was the one who Continue reading

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
While I was doing Art School, I had a couple of little jobs like working at a supermarket, a zoo, a club. I also made a little comic for a division of a big Energy Company.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I haven’t been part of many big animation projects yet, but during my internship at Anikey Studios I got to work on a couple of very nice short animated films: “Paul and the Dragon”and “Little Quenton”!

How did you become interested in animation?
I have always watched cartoons and even made my own comics and flipbooks. I tried to animate digitally in GIF Animator and Flash, drawing with my mouse! I just never realized that I could become a professional animator. After finishing high school I studied Graphic Design at two different Art Schools, because I Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
I actually have a few jobs…Lead Artist/Animator@IBM,Executive Secretary@AAUGA, Producer/Production Manager @ Launch Studio .

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Prior to stepping in the world of digital art and animation I was a Network Engineer for cable companies. I worked at Adelphia Communications in Coudersport, PA as an Operations Engineer, which basically was a job where if nobody else in the company could resolve a customer’s issue, then it was my job to figure out what the problem was. So mostly it was alot of digging around in network equipment and troubleshooting customers computers. When the company sold to Time Warner, I jumped ship early and worked in Boston, Massachusetts at Harvard in their IT department doing system deployment. But soon after I moved there, Time Warner wanted me to move to Austin, Texas to be the Plant Coordinator. They gave me a great offer and I took the job. While living in Boston, I started doing contract 2d art for Iron Will Games. They were based out of Austin, TX. So this was a great chance for me to have a stable job at Time Warner, and work at a game studio during my off hours. I had a great time working both jobs, but after a year of long hours and no free time. I made the choice to chose the lower paying job that was more beneficial to my career path that I enjoyed, so I became a 3D Artist. I worked on a handful of MMO’s, and did some data engineering support for some PC releases. Then after Pixel Mine Games, I landed a job at Spiderwood Animations as Art Director & Lead Character Modeler.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
My favorite project has to be Devils, Angels & Dating. When working with Michael Cawood it was a great time always. Working with remote users, mashing together a pipeline that was unconventional due to the fact that the team was worldwide. The film came out great, and I am very proud of what the team put together. And I am continually impressed with the success stories from team mates finding work from the film.

How did you become interested in animation?
At the early age I was always into animated film and tv, like most children are. But a few films that stuck with me, were Rankin/Bass The Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings. I could never get Continue reading

I had a number of jobs before getting into 3D Animation. After undergrad I worked at a video store, then became a substitute teacher, worked as a sports and youth sports director at a YMCA, and finally before heading on to pursue my career in animation I was a photo retoucher at a camera store.

I’m very proud of my last finished film called “The Question”, which deals with a question mark character named Joe, who longs to find himself and become an exclamation point. My favorite project is my very first film called “Life’s Journey”. I’ve come a long way since completing this film in 2002, but it always inspires me to keep going.

How did you become interested in animation?
I first became inspired by animation when I first saw the film, Watership Down. Being about five or six, I know I was too young to see this film. But

My favorite projects that I’ve worked on are ones I cannot talk about yet.  Though outside of those I have been working on a video game pitch with some friends and am very proud of that work so far.
How did you become interested in animation?
I’ve always drawn for as long as I can remember, it’s just who I am.  So there was never a moment really when I decided I wanted to draw for a living, it was always just assumed.  Though,

As traditional animator I enjoyed working in “The Flinstones”, “Tom and Jerry”, “The Jetsons” ( Hanna Barbera), and in a lot of american and british Tv series and specials, the feature film “Asterix” (Gaumont) ,etc., as production manager and co-supervising animator in ” Count Duckula”, ” Foxbusters” (Cosgrove Hall), “Captain Star” (Filmworks), “Rhinegold” (Hibber Ralph). After some years working in traditional animation, in 2000, I was hired as character animation director to work for CGI productions in several 3D feature films such as “The Living Forest”, “A Midsummer Dream ” (Dygra Films), etc.
