 ACAMAR FILMS ANNOUNCES A FULL RANGE OF PARTNERSHIPS ON BING BUNNY 

Acamar is working simultaneously, in an unusual creative arrangement, with an additional two multi-award winning studio partners Brown Bag Films and Tandem Films to coproduce

Bing Bunny for MIPTV debut  

London, 6 February 2014. UK-based independent Acamar Films today announced that it is working in partnership with both leading Irish animation studio Brown Bag Films and London based Tandem Films to coproduce the much-anticipated new animated series Bing Bunny – based on the hugely popular books by award-winning author and illustrator Ted Dewan.

Acamar will be launching the new show with initial episodes available to view at MIPTV.

The 78 x 7’ series has been meticulously developed for internationally renowned BBC pre-school channel CBeebies, which will be bringing the Bing Bunny books’ unique philosophy and story-telling to television audiences this spring. Marvel Animation studios: 1984

Here’s a post sent by my buddy Mark Lewis from the wayback machine in 1984 of the Marvel Animation Crew who I saw at the TAG Union Christmas Party. The studio developed from Depatie-Freleng Enterprises who made The original Pink Panther series as well as many of the original Bugs Bunny specials. You also might recognize the name Freleng as the surname of the famous Warner Bro;s director Friz Freleng. Yep that’s the guy!

I promised I’d send you that Marvel picture, so I thought I better hit it while it’s still fresh in my mind. It’s Marvel Productions, 1984. I don’t know who everybody is here, but it’s Larry Houston in the middle of that third row in the back (I think that might even be Stan Lee himself standing behind him!). Two to the right of Larry, I think that’s Rick Hoberg with the beard and mustache. Then down in the right corner crouching is Rob Dog. I actually ran into Rob at the party later in the evening!

Marvel Productions (1981–1994)

Marvel Productions opened its Los Angeles studio in 1981.[3] In 1984, Margaret Loesch joined Marvel Productions as President and Chief Executive Officer.[5] MCG was owned from 1968 by Cadence Industries Corporation and was incorporate as Marvel Entertainment Group (MEG) and sold in 1986 to New World Pictures.[6] With New World having cash flow problems, MEG was sold in January 1989 to Andrews Group, a MacAndrews and Forbes subsidiary, owned by Ronald Perelman. However, Marvel Productions was merged into New World’s television business.[6] MP moved their offices from Van Nuys to West Los Angeles in May 1989.[1] New World’s problems continued which lead them to also be acquired by the Andrews Group within the year.[7]Loesch left for Fox Kids in 1990.[8]

Crew Pics: Disney’s “Fish Hooks”

Here’s a crew pic from Disney’s Fish Hooks send by the multi-talented Mr. Warburton. Fish Hooks is a relatively unique show in that storyboard artists worked from an outline instead of a script and added their own dialog. Not many shows in the animation industry have ever been done like that and as far as I know there are only a few to date which are listed below. If I’ve missed any, let me know in the comments.

Fish Hooks is an American animated television series created by Noah Z. Jones . Twenty-one episodes were ordered for the first season. It premiered on September 24, 2010.[1] An 11-minute preview was shown on September 3, 2010, following the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. It also premiered on ABC Family on January 15, 2011, at 7/6c. New York, New York, February 3, 2014 – The critically acclaimed New York Int’l Children’s Film Festival has announced its full slate for the 2014 edition, which runs March 7-30 at five Manhattan locations.  The Festival will present 100 new animated and live action shorts and features, opening and closing night parties, studio showcases, retrospectives, filmmaker Q&As, filmmaking workshops, the Whole Foods Market Pop-Up Concessions Stand, audience voting and the NYICFF Awards Ceremony.

 

The 17th edition includes four weeks of groundbreaking and thought-provoking new films for ages 3-18.  Highlights include US and North American feature film premieres of Amazonia (France), Boy in the World(Brazil), Aunt Hilda! (France), Foosball (Argentina), Patema Inverted (Japan) and others, six Oscar®-qualifying short film programs, a live sing-a-long event featuring 2011’s The Muppets and hosted by Oscar®-winning producer and composer Bret McKenzie, and LAIKA: Behind the Magic, a special presentation featuring never-before-seen footage of the studio’s upcoming feature, The Boxtrolls.

  • Partners closely with the Producer from the start of editorial through the final mix. The partnership includes editorial staffing issues, handling the finish schedule for previews and other work-in-progress screenings, sound design and music reviews, supervising the final mix schedule and all final picture deliveries for domestic and international distribution.
  • Develops and manages post schedules, budgets and staffing requirements.
  • Understands how changes may affect the budget, scheduling and overtime
  • Creates Post Production schedules for sound design, film lab and Domestic and International Distribution needs.
  • Supervise external Post facilities that handle Sound Mixing, Film Processing and Digital Cinema Packaging
  • Supervise Audience Preview screenings as well as other VIP screenings.
  • Supervise the Quality Control for work-in-progress and final version masters for all projects.
  • Creates a team environment and helps in keeping morale positive
  • Plays a leadership role in Executive meetings, managing expectations and communicating Post milestones.

Qualifications

  • This is a deadline-driven, fast-paced position that requires technical experience as well as production coordination abilities.
  • Candidate must be organized, have ability to help troubleshoot technical issues and also have good interpersonal skills and remain calm under pressure when communicating with senior management.
  • At least 5 years production experience in Animation or Visual FX. Management experience essential.
  • Computer Animation experience essential.
  • Manage schedules and comprehensive tracking of elements to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Works well under extreme pressure with immovable deadlines
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel
