What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
The craziest job was a cab driver in Hollywood back in the 70’s. I lasted all but a couple months.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Definitely “Pinky and The Brain”. The show was cleaver and the staff were great people. That was my first job as an artist. Kinda like the love we hold for our first car… I’ll always look back on those years as the best and most sentimental.

How did you become interested in animation?
It started as a childhood fantasy, inspired by feature animation films.  As a child I would carry around my Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
I’m Martin Povey and I’m a freelance Animation Director and 3D Generalist based in the UK.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I was lucky enough to get into animation a year after I graduated from university in 1992!  Although, I actually studied to be an engineer and worked for 6 months designing pressure valves in a chemical plant before sidestepping.  Seeing “XX days accident free” sign on the entry to the plant was a huge influence on my career choice!

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I used to run a medium sized animation company in Birmingham UK called PS Creative.  One of my favourite all time projects was our award winning TV and Cinema commercial for Drayton Manor Park (theme park).  It was a fairly stuffy brief initially, but we had almost total creative freedom and the idea grew into a really fun project.  The characters we designed and built were painted onto the walls of the ride and made into character suits.  It’s immensely cool when you see one of your animated creation wandering round in the real world – Disney had vision J.  I’d have to say overall, it’s far easier to point out the very few projects I HAVEN’T enjoyed working on rather than the many I have

How did you become interested in animation?
What an odd question!  I can’t remember a time when I haven’t been fascinated with animation.  I first wanted to be an animator when Continue reading

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I worked in a pet store for 7 years.  I have cleaned up and looked after almost every type of domestic animal and have been bitten by about the same number.  I then transitioned into sales at the store.  It was a good job and I learned a lot about how to interact with people and to know everything about what your selling.  It is easier to sell a product more then yourself though.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I loved working on “Adventures from the Book of Virtues.”  Maybe it was because of those I worked with or maybe because it was my first job in the industry.  I was able to work on all aspects of the project and was trusted to work to my full potential.  Currently I work on G.I. Joe.  It’s awesome to be on a show I grew up watching as a kid and the people here are really great.

How did you become interested in animation?
Growing up I would watch cartoons every Saturday morning and after school.  I started drawing at a very early age and encouraged to do so by my parents…even though Continue reading

Aaron Rozenfeld and I am unemployed.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I haven’t had a job any crazier than in animation except for selling(or to be more precise, not selling) ugly t-shirts to the audience of the Jimmy Kimmel Live show. But that more sucked than was crazy and was after I got into and left out of the animation industry. I’m not really sure what crazy means. I’ve always interpreted crazy as ‘knowing the difference between right and wrong, but not caring. Being that I’m a both moral and spiritual person, I always care about right and wrong so I wouldn’t participate in a crazy job.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
The Simpsons, Futurama, Fairly Odd Parents, and the next job in animation I get.
How did you become interested in animation?

I became interested in animation as a child, watching cartoons. SOme favorites include Warner Brothers Looney Tunes, Woody Woodpecker, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends and many others.
Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I once video interviewed Devry University students after they got their palms and auras read at a psychic fair in Columbus.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I think The Ricky Gervais Show and El Tigre both look fantastic as finished products. I had a lot of fun working on Family BrainSurge and The Mr Men Show. Kappa Mikey was one of the funnier shows I’ve worked on, which is probably why it has a cult following. I would crack up when I watched the animatics.
How did you become interested in animation?
When I was a kid I wanted to be an astronaut, but when I realized that Continue reading

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Just like any and all self-respecting American citizens I’ve had jobs mowing lawns, building airplanes  and serving food at the governor’s banquets. Some of my crazier jobs have included mechanical engineering at a college in downtown Chicago. By “mechanical engineering” I mean uninstalling 19 floors of urinals in the guys dormitory, scraping the drains clean with a broken garden spade, then re-installing them. There were other more unpleasant tasks required by the job but I’d rather not mention them. I also served as a crewman aboard the Tall Ship Windy out of Chicago’s Navy Pier. This job had me balancing on a single piece of cotton rope 90 feet above the deck to work on torn sails, replace, frayed ropes and so on. Many times I saw the larger of Chicago’s orb-weaver spiders fall to their death Continue reading
