What is your name and your current occupation?Â
I’m Travis Overstreet and I’m the lead designer and animator at Crawford Media in Atlanta, Georgia.
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?Â
For the most part I waited tables to put myself through school but there were a couple of interesting odd jobs sprinkled in. The most interesting one would have to be the steel fabrication shop I worked in for a summer. I was raised in the south but I never really picked up the culture so I stuck out like a sore thumb. We had to be there every morning at 4:30am and being the smart person I am I went to see the midnight release of Star Wars 3. Needless to say I didn’t get any sleep that night and during my shift the next day I dozed off while using a machine and fractured a piece of metal sending a small fragment into my forearm. Even though I hated the hours I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with.
How did you become interested in animation?Â

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I´ve been very lucky that I went straight to working in animation after I graduated (although it took a while) I actually got one of my first illustration gigs while applying for a telemarketer job: the company found out I was an artist and they asked me to do some character design proposals for their new website.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I´ve done a lot of projects for Leapfrog, and since I love what they do (educational children´s books and toys), I´ve been proud of pretty much everything I´ve done for them, but I´d single out Sing Along Read-Along (a really fun, cool project) and the “If I Were…†book, which was the first time I got to do an entire book by myself. As far as animation goes, I was super proud of all the work I did (character designs, storyboarding and directing!) on the “Brock O´Lee†shorts for PepperMelon studios: it was a big learning experience to wear all those hats, and the final product turned out awesome, I thought.
How did you become interested in animation?
I´ve been obsessed with cartoons since I can remember. I watched everything (and I mean everything) I could all throughout my childhood, from toy-centric 80´s tv shows and Disney movies to weird, artsy European animation. Ashley J. Long, talented weirdo
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I’m lucky that I can report most of my jobs have been kind to me. Â My very first job was designing rubber stamps. Â I’ve also been a teaching assistant for an arts program, and a visitor services liaison at an art museum. Â That last one was probably the worst. Â Patrons would come up to the desk and complain about the strangest stuff, like how they didn’t care for the architecture of the building, or what type of trees were planted out front. Â Stuff I had no say in and definitely couldn’t change.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I was with Fox’s American Dad for almost 7yrs and seem to be one of few people who actually LOVED it! Â I didn’t mind the limited palette of expression, and Roger was always good fun. Â I had several opportunities to dress him in crazy clothes that I actually own myself –watch for platform boots!
