Black Mast Studios is looking for an all around VFX Supervisor familiar with roto, compositing, matte painting, lighting and animation for a long term partnership on a gig by gig basis.

We have an influx of projects that will be distributed on the web over the next year that will require some level of VFX ranging from minimal compositing to fully rendered green screen matte paintings.

Pay will be on a project by project basis, with the possibility of becoming a partner in a growing Transmedia company.

We are currently accepting resumes for any and all departments, and are open to someone just out of college, looking to build a resume.

2+ years of experience with the following software is preferred:
After Effects
Final Cut Pro
Element 3D
Maya

Consistency, reliability a positive mindset, and a quick turn around are our top priorities in a candidate. Must be able to stick to agreed upon deadlines. Our work is mostly in the sci-fi realm drawing inspiration from comic books and video games, and even working on large recognizable properties, so familiarity with this genre is also preferred.

Scripted Tool Development & support

This opportunity collaborates with the Global Pipeline initiative and is considered a Project/Show based hire. Pipeline is focusing on bridging the work of artists & vendors worldwide, across multiple feature films & themed entertainment productions.

We’re looking for talented TD’s across all levels of skillset (mid to senior). RGH Technical Directors work with the Pipeline Supervisor to architect & develop production tools as well as supporting modules in a Python scripting environment. Responsibilities include but not limited to automating Shotgun, Revolver, Deadline, as well as support the Digital Asset Production & Review System.

 

Qualifications

  • Senior level:  +5 years’ production experience
  • Mid-level:  +3 years’ production experience
  • Experience in Editorial & Video Review System development
  • Advanced python skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Nuke & Maya, Houdini and Softimage a bonus.
  • Comfortable developing for Windows, Mac & Linux
  • Advanced problem solving & troubleshooting skills a must
  • Progressive knowledge of VFX production & development trends
  • Excellent time management & communication skills

 

Pluses – Experience with the following:

  • Experience with Shotgun
  • Experience with Deadline Render Management System & RV
  • Shader development, simulation systems
  • PyQT or PySide
  • Experience with Softimage and Houdini

Culver City local Animation Studio needs to fill two positions for current project on upcoming feature film starting immediately. Positions specified below:

Seeking Senior level Maya generalist with experience in particles in effects. Feature film work on your demo reel is required. Some MEL Scripting/Expressions are going to be a sizeable part of this job. You will be working directly with the visual effects supervisor and doing some particles and effects and object animation (no characters). You will also need to know how to work with a tracked camera (some tracking experience is good as well) and modeling some environment geometry for us to create some lighting effects later in comp. Demo reels with similar work to the Watchmen (exploding reactor scene) are on the right track.

Also seeking Senior Level After Effects Compositor. Feature film experience necessary. Must have experience compositing effects such as lighting and particles into feature film plates. Should be an all-around After Effects guru, even to the point of being able to relieve some of the 3D effects work with your After Effects skills. Must know all about look up tables and film color space.
