The Waitress

Well here's the final model of the waitress that walks through the first scene of the film. Quite a bit of work for a walk-through but I wanted to do a good job as I've never modeled a woman before. (Between me and Jason there seems to be a theme with this eh?).
Just sent this off to Jason for rigging so we're getting there slowly.
Still many more models to do though, but we're making progress.
I am very excited about what she'll look like moving around. She's meant to be pretty hot and it will be a chore to see if I can make her walk like a sexy woman but I will try. I might have to watch my wife walk around a bit for reference! ( You think I'm kidding!)

Incidental Character Model (Ghost Lady)

Hey All

Mike has been designing some great looking characters for this little project of ours. But one man can not do all the models on this project or it would burn him out. So I have taken on some of the modeling duties for the project. The first bunch of charaters I am modeling are the Ghost ladies.

Drawn by MIKE MILO Painted JASON MCARTHUR

She has been a fun model to do so far and is the first female I have ever modeled. You may notice there are three Ghost ladies and to save time I am going to do a base model of the Ghost Lady, then I am going to make some defomations to the base model to get the other two ladies. I will keep posting as the model progress. For now I hope you enjoy these

Werewolf Update!

Jason just sent me v.1 of the Werewolf Heckler all rigged and ready to go and it looks sweet so far! A few Weighting issues on the back but nothing serious and you can clearly see the potential! Just think, this is only one of the crowd memebers! More to come as always!

Hiatus

Not much going on with Poltergoose at the moment as we prepare for Christmas. I am currently visiting NYC and I've got a bunch of reference as well. Jason has been refining Poltergoose and has commited to getting him done by the end of the holidays so hopefully we'll have a few more animation tests following. More to come after Christmas!

Waitress

Here is a quick render of the waitress I am working on for the short. She's an incidental character but I've never modeled a woman before so it should be fun!

Werewolf update

Aftter reviewing my design I tried to tweak it a bit and I'm glad I did. Anyway, here's a small update to what he looks like. As you can see from the comparison with the last post, I have added a bit of detail. A few things have been chaged. For one, my daughter said that he "needed" pants and that it was freaky that a werewolf who was once human was running around naked and what would happen when he turned back to a human. SO I added the pants. Not sure how it will deform yet though as he's really wearing pants. In other words I made some actual geometry pants that he wears instead of making his legs into pants. I guess we'll find out when Jason rigs him.
Another thing I changed was to make his legs longer. They were too short and stubby and they had no volume to them. They were just short and thin. No self respecting werewolf wants bird legs ya know? I think it look s better this way albiet a bit more realistic. I'm hoping he'll still blend in with Poltergoose's world anyway but if not I guess I can always remodel him more cartoony. I love modeling so I'd be willling to do it if need be. I have to let his design sink in and see them together before I decide. I think it will be fine though in the long run.
Finally, I got rid of those ape-like longish arms. I don't know what I was thinking but I fixed it now and I also gave his arms a bit more contour.

I had originally started modeling the Blendshapes ( the things that make him be able to talk) when I noticed there was a lack of vertices in his mouth which would allow him to make the finite mouth moves needed to get him to speak. Once you start Blendshapes, you can't really change the main model anymore because the Blendshapes (which are rerally deformed copies of the original) then do not have the new changes and when you invoke the new mouth you've made for him all the changes you did to the original head disappear as well as chaging his mouth into the new position. Make sense? Anyway, so I really had no choice but to ditch the Blends that I did and start them over. It worked out well because I added mroe detail to him and stuff that will help him deform better anyway.

Werewolf

Here's the final model of the Werewolf in the film. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I wish I knew how to do fur correctly because I'm sure it'd look cooler than it does, but ah well. Anyway it's coming along, this lil' film of ours!

New Look

Mike has done a re-model of Poltergoose's head, and I am working on the textures, they are still really rough, but I think Poltergoose looks mighty fine, don't you? Nice work Mike!

Also I have started modeling the Comedy Club based on mike's rough sketches. I just started on the set so it is much pretty in the blocking stage. But it's a start eh .
