What is your name and your current occupation? 
Brent Noll- I am Director of Illustration and Animation At How It Works Media, And Free Lance Illustrator. I Also draw caricature at theme parks and the occasionally I attend class.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation? 
One of My first Jobs was at a golf course in a rich upscale community of conservative elites in the Texas Hill country. I was the miserable peon assigned to picking up golf balls on the driving range while over privileged 7 year olds attempted to drive golf balls 150 yards in my general direction. I got hit on several occasions. I drove an armor plated golf cart with a tendency to get tangled up on itself. I also would venture out of my mobile chicken wire fortress and wear some kind of golf ball extracting contraptions on my arms and stomp around the woods retrieving lost balls. I’d stand precariously close the golfers knee deep in some freezing mucky streams and attempt to meet that days quota of lost balls. Also I had to wash said golf balls. I still have an image in my mind of the grounds keeper repeating over and over again in a toothless southern accent that it was “Very imPOR-Tint ta wersh ur balls son”

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of? 
One of My clients at work is StarMap. The original creator of the technology that allows you to hold up your Iphone to the sky and have it interpolate constellations. He really likes classic cartoons and my work. I spend a lot of time making sure that his character designs really pay homage to classic Hana Barbara Characters and the golden age of animation. at first I didn’t think it would be interesting to draw that stuff. But it really opened my eyes to simple designs and fun cartoony shapes.
Also One time I did a bus wrap design for a Hospital in Austin. They let my draw cartoon Jet engines and big Chevy fenders on the side. I think the bus goes around inner city schools and gives free rabies shots to underprivileged kids or something.

How did you become interested in animation?
When I was 18. I knew I liked to watch cartoons and preferred them over real shows. And I could draw really well compared to people at my school. What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is justin rasch – and I am a character Animator in the Games and Film industry at the same time right now…ha!
I have a day job animating in Video Games and also work the Night shift on a Feature stopmotion Animated film at Shadow Machine in Hollywood Ca .

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
hmmmm….I was a Tree climber-cutter as a Youngster. I was a sign painter or wandering artist as a teenager. I had my first son as a teen so I pretty much did anything available to make money. – usually busboy- dishwasher type stuff….any art based work i could get my hands on.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
PARANORMAN – From LAIKA- Hands down -The single most amazing artistic experience of my Life. A DREAM come True !!!!
I was part of an OLD school Miniature , Special FX , animated Film. It was like walking into Willy Wonkas Magic Factory Every single day.  I …… on the very hardest days of the production would part the curtain and walk into my set and feel the breath just escape my chest in pure little kid excitement and awe!!  WOW!! I am surrounded by this incredible ART and I get to the opportunity bring these amazing characters to Life…Goosebumps !!  LAIKA was a DREAM JOB in every way . The Animation Medium I love most is Stopmotion Animation…..so …. as far as studios LAIKA is The Number 1 studio out there. It has a very clear goal of telling awesome story’s at the highest animated quality in this Medium.  It is constantly PUSHING to do more with Puppets than has ever done before. That building so full of talent its sick.  While working on a LAIKA film everyone involved is given the support and opportunity to do the best work of our lives…..in fact…. its expected!!  So…Dailys and weeklies were PURE Jaw dropping awesomeness and a magic show every morning.  Every week or two I wouldl have my NEW BESTEST SHOT EVER!! As an animator that is As good as it gets!!……The film also was sooooo fun to work on…. JOY!! I also recently worked on a Spongebob Christmas special which was incredibly fun to be a part of.  It was a great honor to work on the Iconic character and the guys at Screen Novelties are the coolest  to work with in the BIZ….those guys are a Very special group of artist-animators and they kick arse on everything they are a part of.

How did you become interested in animation?

What is your name and your current occupation?
Hi, my name is Jordan Lamarre-Wan and I’m a Concept Artist for Disney Interactive – Junction Point Studios.


What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I worked as an underage bar tender in a hip bistro, a store assistant for DeWalt, a factory worker for Pillsbury and a Layout Artist for a Christian animation studio on a project called God Rocks about these characters who were rocks and who played rock music, lol. I actually really enjoyed working at that studio.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I really enjoyed working on Warner Bros’ Johnny Test, George of the Jungle and Richard Scarry’sBusytown Mysteries. But the project I’m most proud of is being part of Disney’s Epic Mickey 1 and Epic Mickey2. I’m also very lucky and honored to have been published in The Art Of Epic Mickey, an art book about the ‘making of’ including the pre-production drawings and paintings for the game. This is a Time Lapse Video of me sketching Mickey vs an animatronic character for Epic Mickey 1.

Job Description
Paints backgrounds, layouts and any other background-related art that the production may require, ensuring style and quality of show are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet with creative supervisor(s) to ensure color needs of show are fulfilled.
  • Follow instructions of supervisor.
  • Complete all color work within assigned deadlines.
  • Resolve color problems with creative supervisors.
  • Communicate progress of work to appropriate production staff.
  • Ensure all artwork is properly backed up and stored appropriately.
  • Review storyboard for background key color callouts.
  • Comfortable working on a Cyntiq and must be able to work digitally.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Fulfill other color projects, including but not limited to color lead sheets, color script and/or color pass on storyboards.
Required Skills
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in style of show
  • Strong knowledge of color theory and lighting.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn applicable design software and hardware
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Work well under pressure
  • Ability to multitask a plus
Required Experience
  • Relevant digital color experience in TV production schedule necessary.
  • BA in Fine Arts or equivalent work experience highly desired
