“The Present” by Jacob Frey

An exceptional award winning film with heart. Short and sweet and yet it packs a big punch! A must watch for any one who loves animals, people OR animation.

After a very successful festival circuit, running on over 180 film festivals and winning more than 50 awards, we’ve decided that it’s finally time to share “The Present” with the rest of the world.

“The Present” is a thesis short from the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
We really hope you enjoy the result of our hard work. Thanks to everyone who help creating this film and everyone who supported us during the festivals. Thanks a lot for making this such an incredible journey.
“The Present” is based on a great little comic strip by the very talented Fabio Coala.

Deja View: Lady & the Tramp Art

LTR11

Interesting article up on Andreas Deja’s blog site Deja View with some Lady and the Tramp art…

An animation colleague of mine said this about the film Lady & the Tramp: “Oh, it’s just a soup opera with dogs. Boy gets girl, boy looses girl, boy gets girl in the end.”
Be that as it may, I think the movie’s story is compelling and in support of rich characters. I remember listening to a Walt Disney interview, in which he said this about the film: “Lady & the Tramp turned out well. We felt it, we felt the personalities.”

Bunnicula Mumkey Business Episode Clip

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZgtdwFYhUE

After Chester has had enough of Bunnicula’s supernatural hijinx, he decides to lock the rabbit back in the cellar crypt he came from. But when he takes Mina’s key, he unknowingly releases a second dangerous force into the apartments, in the form of a mummified monkey!

Incidentally here’s what I believe to be the original cartoon which is from a children’s book.

Eric Dapkewicz

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nV9Aos_Ezgc
What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Eric Dapkewicz, and I am an Animation Film Editor. I just recently wrapped on the movie, “Puss In Boots” for DreamWorks Animation.
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I worked in a parking garage at a Post Facility. That kind of sucked. But I got to know Mel Brooks this way.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I’ve been proud of a lot of different things I’ve worked on. In terms of animated movies, I’m most proud of “Lilo & Stitch” and “Puss In Boots”. I’ve made some independent movies and music I’m proud of as well.

How did you become interested in animation?
I’ve always loved animation since I was a kid. Watched all the Warner Brother Cartoon Classics and Disney Film Classics. I don’t think I’ve ever really Continue reading

HBO’s “Animals” trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64gUEBaIiLc

Here’s a trailer for the upcoming HBO series Animals from Starburns Industries (who also make Ricky and Morty for Adult Swim). The animation reminds of first season of Archer (which got better after the third season) but the jokes are humorous and it seems to have a good voice cast. I’ll definitely watch it!

Here’s a great sum up from Peter Sciretta’s review over at Slashfilms

Animals might be the weirdest, craziest, most interesting television show in a long time. The new HBO show feels like someone took a funny clever animated short film from the Sundance Film Festival and adapted it into a television series. The result feels like nothing else on television.

You can read the entire review here.

Animals, a new comedy from Duplass Brothers Television, premieres February 5 at 11:30/10:30c on HBO.

Super Science Friends – Episode 1: The Phantom Premise

At long last, the first episode of Super Science Friends is here for you to watch! It’s been called “Just the right amount of smart, the just the right amount of stupid” by people who know all about such things.

Super Science Friends was created by Brett Jubinville, animated by a lot of talented people at Tinman Creative Studios, and was successfully kickstarted November 2014. It features a team of time-travelling super scientists led by Winston Churchill who travel through time fighting nazis, zombies and all manner of sciency villains!

If you like this episode you can back more via Kickstarter!
