Entertainment Weekly has an article and new clip where Seth Rogen channels Walt Disney in new Sausage Party teaser. Still not sure if I’m on board with this film but I’m really glad they’re starting to make adult themed animated features. Here’s to hoping it’s successful and creates an entirely new genre for the US.
The Laughing Place has an interesting blurb and clip from Zachary Levi concerning how Frozen was almost did make it to screen.
From the article:
Zachary Levi, the voice of Flynn in Tangled, recently sat down to talk to Entertainment Tonight about the new Tangled TV series and the possibility of a Chuck reunion.
But perhaps the most interesting thing he said was he was told by John Lasseter, the Chief Creative Officer for all of Disney animation, that Tangled would be Disney’s last fairy tale movie.
“He said, ‘Alright guys, this is it. This is the last one,’†the 35-year-old actor recalled Lasseter saying. “Then he made Tangled and we did really well and it was enough to buoy that for them to go and make Frozen.â€
“So I will say to the Frozen people, ‘You’re welcome. You are welcome,’†Levi joked.
The duo made the promises in a Tuesday morning meeting with over 1,000 staffers in Glendale, five days after Comcast announced it was buying the animation company for $3.8 billion.
“This came together really fast, but has been in our hearts for a long time,†Comcast CEO Roberts said following opening remarks by DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg. “We will absolutely continue to make animated films here. Today for me, Jeffrey, it’s the awesome responsibly of trying to find a way to take your dream and try to carry on your legacy and celebrate it in a way that will make you proud.â€
Check out this fantastic award-winning 3D animated short called “Cosmos Laundromat: First Cycle” as on a desolate island, a suicidal sheep Franck meets his fate in a quirky salesman, who offers him the gift of a lifetime. “Cosmos Laundromat” started in 2014 as an experimental feature film, in which an adventurous and absurdist love story is being told by multiple teams – each working in their own unique style. The opening of the film, the 10 minutes pilot “First Cycle”, has been made in the Netherlands by the studio of Blender Institute in Amsterdam.
The film itself and all of the artwork files were made with free/open source software and are available under a permissive license. Free to share, free to remix and free to learn from.
Daniel M. Lara does it again with his fantastic implementations of Blender’s Grease pencil. I’ve personally tried this method and I have to say I have no idea how he’s doing it because I can’t get even close to the details he does out of Blender’s Grease Pencil. Granted I don’t know squat about Blender so I can’t  really complain. Nevertheless, it seems like it’s a fantastic tool and if the developers can continue working on it, it truly may become a powerhouse with regards to 2d animation. One of the most amazing parts of the tool is the way you can lasso art and bend it much like the complicated deformers available in Toon Boom harmony, yet you can do it without deforming anything. It’s quite incredible.
Below is Daniel talking about the future of Grease Pencil. Notice when he demos the tools, he  lassos then grabs arms and legs as well as faces to distort them perfectly. What a tool!
