What is your name and your current occupation?
Hi! My name is Valentina Tatti and currently I’m working in a cinema set near Florence.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
In 2014 I’ve graduated in Animation 2d&3D and now I’M ending the specialization in Film Directing. Thanks to this, I’ve begun to work for film in live action, even if my destination is the Animation. The craziest experience that I’ve had has been when I worked as an character animator for a fiction. I’ve worked very hard for months and they disappeared without paying myself and taking possession of the rights of my jobs. I wanted to strangle everybody.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
All the projects to which I’ve been able to work make me proud. Do what I love is the most beautiful thing that can happen to me. That I’m to animate a character or to draw the cover of a book.

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I was born in Prato,Tuscany . My parents always took me to the cinema and I fell in love of ” The Lion King” . When I was 3 years I decided I had to do the cartoons to make Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Aaron Sowd. I’m currently the president and art director at Aaron Sowd Productions, Inc. We specialize in storyboards and animatics for feature films. We also do some 3-D and previs work. Right now, we work exclusively for Will Smith and Overbrook Entertainment, doing development work. It’s a dream job, and they keep us very busy.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I’ve worked as a professional artist more or less full time since I was 18. I spent about six years in comics before working on the Anastasia and Titan A.E. style guides for Fox. I was the art director at Stan Lee Media. I’ve been freelancing in just about every media since: film, TV, advertising and video games.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
After Earth comes out this summer, and that was a blast to work on. I got to storyboard some of the additional scenes and meet M. Night. My favorite project is the one I’m working on right now — which is top secret, of course. Working on the first Transformers film, Solaris, the Transformers and The Simpsons rides at Universal, and the God of War and Rage video games were all career highlights for me.

How did you become interested in animation?
As a kid I grew up with no TV, so I got interested in comic books first, then animation. Our local library used to carry the Tintin and Asterix collections, and later I got into Marvel and DC. The first animation I can remember seeing was Continue reading

James Nethery

What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is James Nethery and I’m a freelance Flash/Toon Boom Harmony animator.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Well, the craziest was probably working at the Magic Kingdom park in Orlando as a “Custodial Host” (aka a janitor in Disney Park-speak) for a few years. I could probably start a series of blog posts on all the crazy stuff that went down on that job… from “how the heck did it get on the ceiling??!” restroom cleaning stories, to rude/angry park guests, to employees getting fired for coming in drunk/high, to insane employee policies that parks put in place. That was a fun job (and the free park admission was a major perk) but it could certainly be tough sometimes.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Three words: Cyanide and Happiness. That show is a lot of fun to work on and it’s great working with the guys over at Lowbrow Studios and Explosm who are a really talented bunch. I love seeing how much I can get out of such simple designs. So far, I’ve worked on about 11 shorts, two of which haven’t been posted online yet. Some of I’m animated fully, so I’ve just helped out a bit on doing animation revisions and such.  I’m also working on another project right now that’s really cool that I can’t really talk about… all I can say is that its being animated in Toon Boom Harmony and that’s its based on another very popular web comic.

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I’m from Orlando, Florida. I got into the freelance animation business basically by working my butt off on my demo reel and applying to every job I could. It was tough starting out, but Continue reading

*PRESS RELEASE*

“Many Chances” channels alt-J at their most menacing, and Wild Beasts at their poppiest. It’s a beguiling blend of textures and harmonies from BRNS.’ – The Line of Best Fit

Belgium-based band BRNS are proud to announce the U.K. release of their latest single, ‘Many Chances’, taken from their new sophomore album, ‘Patine’.

Having played over 200 shows in less than two years, BRNS have proven themselves as one of the most progressive and truly independent bands of this time. Playing across Europe with acts like Yeasayer, WHY?, Cloud Nothings andSUUNS, as well as performing at major European festivals such as Dour, Rock En Seine and Appletree Garden, the talented quartet have energized crowds everywhere with their sincere and exhilarating performances. NME cited them as one of the most exciting new bands of 2013, and their latest full length, ‘Patine’, promises to only confirm their hard work and dedication to expanding pop music.

Hailing from Brussels, BRNS members Tim “Clijsters” Philippe, Antoine Meersseman, Diego Leyder and César Laloux gain inspiration from various thriving music scenes scoping from the US to Europe. A four-piece of multi-instrumentalists who weave tunes that are all at once mystical, moody and infectious, their visceral sound will appeal to lovers of Animal Collective and Fugazi.

In addition to crafting a delicious cocktail of lulling vocals, instrumental layering, synths and percussion, BRNS’ accompanying music video for ‘Many Chances’ provokes thought and creative inspiration through its impressive animated visuals. As director Nicolas Fong describes, “The video attempts to echo that casualness, the constant internal struggle and vanity of a personal quest. It’s about fighting your inner dark demons.”

Having just completed their five-day U.K. tour, BRNS look set to continue to impress with their unwavering ability to move from haunting ambience into chest-pounding beats and then back again.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Well, I’m not the craziest person, but I’ve done handicraft, I worked at a couple of shops, I’ve been a pizza making/delivery guy, a guitarist for tips, and I’ve done some construction work before going to college at age 18, since I began to study digital animation, all work I’ve done has been in the animation/illustration area.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I loved to be part of Poster Punch’s second and fourth exhibition, The Pin-up Drink and Poster Punch Open MMXIII, I also loved to be part of El Obsequio, my graduation project, I’m glad we were able to get the work done and to create something we felt and still feel very proud of, that graduation project was under my name only, but I am really grateful to the +20 people that was by my side working on it. At Fair Play I’ve been part of +12 video games and I liked the team dynamics in most of them, but there’s one that I totally loved being part of, mostly because it is till now our most ambitious project of them all, Color Guardians, and its almost done, I love to work on my solo and team projects, all of them have been great and have taught me a lot, but those I mentioned are the ones that comes first to my mind.

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I’m from Costa Rica, and my insertion to the animation/illustration business came naturally, I was Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Andrew Dickman, I’m currently a storyboard artist

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Before I got into the industry I took a lot of freelance jobs doing flash animation for several clients who liked my work. I remember taking a job in Hollywood to do flash animation for a studio I can’t remember the name of. It felt even though I was an amateur coming into the studio, I was teaching them how to prepare everything for flash animation. My job there was very short lived and I felt they didn’t know exactly what they were doing. I have no idea if the project went through but it was a very odd moment for me. Around the same time I did an animated music video for a band in Germany, which I heard made it to television over there but there’s little I really know for certain. I seem to have done a lot of flash animated music videos at the time for both myself and other clients, it seemed to be a thing I wanted to do until I found my Continue reading
