What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Liron Peer (sounds like “Lee-Ron Pair”) and my current occupation is being a Freelance Animator / Character Designer / Illustrator.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I don’t think I had one, animation was something I knew I would be studying and working in after high school (and the army - that’s what all the people in Israel have to do at the age of 18 – men and women, I’m a women btw). The only 2 jobs I had before animation school where doing tech support in the army and then Quality Assurance for a software. So you could say I came from the computer world, though I always knew I’d be creating Art for a living.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I didn’t get the chance yet to be a part of many projects (I’m only at the beginning of my career), so I guess I can say that I’m most proud of my own “Lady Ice” project and my “The Final Stand” project.

How did you become interested in animation?
As far as I remember I always drew, but frankly not professionally until I was about 18! As for animation, well – ever since I saw Disney’s the Little Mermaid when I was 9 years old I fall in love with Disney movies. As I got older I wanted to be an actor and even majored in Acting during my high school years. But I also Continue reading

Hello, my name is Esteban (Steven) Valdez.  As for what I do… Anywhere from mail clerk to director jerk, janitor to animator… janimator?

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I plead the 5th.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
None of them.  Loved the places and people I’ve worked with, but when it comes to my work I always feel like I could do better.

How did you become interested in animation?
Well… from graffiti-ing my mom’s womb as a fetus to the atrocities I do now, I’ve always been drawing.  Originally, I did not intend to get into animation; I was interested in Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
My Name is Bobby Khounphaysane (Koon-pie-san) and I am a 2d animator & Character Designer (with some storyboarding and background designs mixed in there) for DipDive Animation owned by Will.I.AM, which we are in the process of launching soon in the next few months or so.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I used to work at a box factory and received a crazy amount of box cuts on my arm doing assembly line.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Let’s see, there’s actually been a few, but the ones that popped into my head was getting the chance to do a Nick Halloween commercial. It was a 5 second spot and the segment was done all in Toon Boom traditionally, which was fun (and tiring) to do! Another was heading a pilot show where I got to helm the designs from the get go, from characters, to storyboarding, and backgrounds.

How did you become interested in animation?
I became interested in animation ever since I was a wee lad, watching Saturday morning cartoons like Thundercats, GI Joe, and Transformers. From there, Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
Hello there! My name is Kenya Danino and I am a Freelance Visual Development Artist for BlueBells Animation Studio in India and I’ve worked with PennyFarthing Press Inc.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Well, before I even thought about pursuing a freelancing career I did a lot of small commission work here and there since my high school days. In doing so I was making some pocket change as well as practicing to better my talent in areas I struggled in such as anatomy and perspective. And to think when I got to college I was going to pursue the sciences haha, totally different ball game. Wasn’t quite my cup of tea to say the least.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Ah I’ve loved all my awesome opportunities! However, favorite project I have been and continue to be part of is working with the lovely Miss Karen Kiefer on her ongoing children’s book project entitled “The Misfit Sock.” The Misfit Sock teaches lessons of love, hope, inspiration and gratitude through a profound children’s story and introduces a wonderful children’s Christmas tradition. Karen is such a wonderful person in how she is and what she does with this project which talks to “misfit people.” They come in all colors and genders and try to fit in with society that views them as different but what they really have is a gift; a good reason why they don’t exactly fit the puzzle. You can’t lead what you fit in with. And that’s what Karen The Misfit Mama teaches.

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I’m from good ol’ Queens, New York. I hear this state used to be an animation central, now there are only a few sites left. Shame, but no matter, you make do with what you got around you when Continue reading

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Oh I dont know… Construction worker in Toronto in December was fun, Bartender at a Navy bar where you see buff guys singing pre school songs at midnight that was also fun… Or pushing trolleys at the supermarket, i used to get 2 at a time, one for each leg and slide down the hill, that was totally fun. Man really most of the crappy jobs were fun as long as I didn’t take them seriously!

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Oh a bunch, I loved working with Stephen Brooks on the Ghostbusting Wallstreet short, that was really great. When I was interning at Flux at a young age we did a show which took 4 weeks to make usually in 2, because I was so fast at flash, I was bad at drawing but I knew my shortcuts! Also being a part of the top 3 people in my uni who got to pitch their own idea for an animated series and talking to Rita Street on making cartoon bibles was also an incredible experience! I still have that bible when one day I feel confident in my writing enough to make my own series!

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
Right now I’m in New Zealand, originally from Bulgaria, I’ve always loved animation and I got my first break at Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Simon Piniel and I’m the owner, creative director and everything else in my company Spin Animation. Me and my team are doing all sorts of animation for all sorts of stuff, predominantly TV commercials, banner ads, info movies and mobile apps.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Nothing too crazy… My first job during Summer break when I was 16(?): garbage man in my home town in Switzerland. A team of two standing on the back of the truck, tossing bags in and hauling containers. I loved it! During art school I sold concert tickets on the phone and did interviews for a polling company.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
There’s a few commercials here and there that I had the opportunity to basically realize from start to finish, and it’s always very fulfilling being able to take full credit in one or more departments. When it comes to bigger, team effort style projects that in return more people are familiar with: the Vancouver Winter Olympics (for which I did a animated projections for the closing ceremony, among others), the latest Swiss inflight safety movie (storyboard) and the Ed, Edd & Eddy Cartoon TV series (for which I spent 3 years storyboarding).

How did you become interested in animation?
I drew some flipbooks as a youngster, but that was just part of drawing a lot. My mom had the idea to Continue reading
