What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is John Mahoney and I am an independent film maker, college professor at Cal Arts and USC and a freelance Concept Designer/sculptor.

 

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I worked as a bicycle messenger in New York City for one day, in which I got hit by two cars and I ran over two people with my bike!

 

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I really enjoyed working on Treasure Planet for Disney, I did concept art and concept sculpture. All together I worked on ten disney films. I also did a short film that won “Hottest Animation in Brazil” you won’t find that one anywhere, it has been banned from the Internet!!!

What is your name and your current occupation?
I currently make cartoons for Red Bull campaigns at an ad agency called Kastner & Partners. I recently animated the end title sequence for Mr. Popper’s Penguins (starring Jim Carrey). In the near future, I hope to be storyboarding and/or writing on an animated TV show.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I used to make pastrami sandwiches in the CIA cafeteria. Before that, I trained at-risk spider monkeys how to tap dance in Indonesia. I also worked at a Hilton, but never saw Paris and did construction, but it wasn’t constructive for my career.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I’m proud to have directed a few music videos and be signed with The Masses on their Masses Lab roster of directors. Brenda Chapman – Director/writer Pixar Animation Studios, co-owner, director, writer, illustrator at Chapman Lima Productions.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Walking beans (walking through soy bean fields and cutting the weeds out), working in the kitchen of a retirement home (it’s horrifying what you find in coffee cups after breakfast!), stuffing envelopes for an insurance company (paper cuts!), working the service desk at Kmart (Blue Light Specials!) – ALL were crazy for OH so many different reasons.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
THE LITTLE MERMAID – my first job as a story artist, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST – trying to make Belle a stronger Disney heroine than the ones of the past, THE LION KING – taking the ‘B’ movie and working hard to make it an ‘A+’, all at Disney… PRINCE OF EGYPT – trying to create the first animated movie at DreamWorks – but then ANTZ jumped in before us – it was great putting together all the right people and creating a new studio… and BRAVE at Pixar – creating the first female main character heroines at that studio, completely inspired by my relationship with my daughter, my love of adventure, faerie tales and Scotland! – a true labor of love.

my name is Patrick McHale, and i am currently employed by cartoon network as a freelance writer.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
i haven’t had too many jobs.  i worked as a babysitter at a jewish community center for a whole room full of kids.  we ate a lot of animal crackers.   but they weren’t the normal kind that come from a circus box.  they were crispier and tasted better.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
“the marvelous misadventures of flapjack” and “adventure time” were both amazing shows to work on, especially right out of school.  i’m unbelievably lucky.

What is your name and your current occupation?
Eddie Moreno, I’m a freelance animator. Still green but moving along in this rough profession.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
 I was a construction worker right after highschool. I delivered supplies to job sites and got to know some cool characters. Made mistakes and got kicked around. Working around 30s – 40s year old will toughen you up quick. Meanwhile I was taking art classes to hone my skill because I knew to be an animator you needed to be a craftsman with your pencil. You carve into paper.I was also a caricature artist at six flags but that’s another story…0_0

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
 hmmmm Right now I am polishing “turds” as it were. My Teacher told me that to make it in this industry you have to give you best even when the projects aren’t great but the people I worked with taught me a lot and I am grateful for every bit of work they throw at me esp being in the USA at this time… Recessionnn…………..~~~~~ but to answer your question, I was very proud of my 2009 year film in Calarts. It got me into the Producer’s Show and it wasn’t about cute bunnies making friends. It was about PTSD and the Vietnam Veteran. Deep things…
