“The Giant’s Dream- The Making of Iron Giant” teaser trailer

Iron Giant was arguably one of the greatest animated films of all time, yet it fell on it’s feet at the box office due to executive fear and suppression of advertising which is odd since Warner Bros was literally frothing at the mouth to get an animated feature off the ground. Enter Brad Bird who WB execs reportedly allowed to make the film essentially unsupervised and once they saw the film and how good it was they feared for their jobs and suppressed it as best they could.

REALLY looking forward to this film!

Might as well use this site for my own promoting as well huh?

Soooo, this coming Friday morning 8/12, I (Mike Milo) will be broadcasting live from 9-12 PST on Adobe’s Twitch channel and animating using Adobe’s Animate software. What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Cale Atkinson and my current full time job is Art Director for RocketSnail Games. I also do contract work in animation and children’s illustrations.
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Before I really decided to go into the job direction of animation I was madly into film and making movies. One job I had for a little while was ‘Wedding Videographer’, filming high-end weddings around Vancouver. Interesting times of chasing limos to find photo shoot locations, staying awake during extra long ceremonies, and having my camera eat the tape in the middle of a wedding :O !

 

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Honestly in one way or another I’m proud of everything I’ve been apart of.  I’m super proud of all the things we are currently working on at RocketSnail Games. The children’s books I’ve been able to illustrate are also something I’m always really excited to be involved in.

How did you become interested in animation?
Always a hard question, as I can’t remember not being interested in animation. As a kid I was crazy about drawing and loved getting any books about cartooning, animation, and comic strips. JON STEWART CREATING ANIMATED NEWS PARODY SERIES FOR HBO

Jon Stewart thedailyshow.com With the 2008 election, Stewart is increasing his influence exponentially this year. And a big part of the reason why is the Web. After some messy quarrels with YouTube over illegal copies running on the video service, Comedy Central, which produces The Daily Show, finally started putting the show up for free on its own Web site. With more people than ever turning to the Web for news and videos, The Daily Show has become the place where many claim to be getting their best coverage of the elections. So while Stewart wasn't a pioneer in going online, his embrace of the Net is an example of good timing.

IGN is reporting that John Stewart has teamed up with HBO to bring us an animated news show.

HBO’s president of programming, Casey Bloys, announced today at the TCA (Television Critics Association) summer press tour that Stewart’s new HBO series will be an Onion-Style animated “parody of a cable news network,” that he described as “very much in Jon’s voice.”

From what I gather it will be very simple animation, probably in the vein of South Park because of the next quote.

When it was brought up that animation usually takes more time, not less, Bloys said, “The animation will allow him to respond to things very quickly. It’ll be more simple animation. My hope is it will be up and running by September or October; by this fall.”

“Scarlett” by The Studio NYC

Scarlett is a short film depicting the inner struggle of a girl who lost a leg to Ewing Sarcoma, a bone cancer that occurs in mostly children. Amputation takes as much of an emotional toll as a physical one – especially for a child. We believe in the power of entertainment media to empower children through storytelling and role models. Visibility in media offers these children hope and a sense of belonging at a critical time where they may feel isolated by their medical condition.

A short film based on a true story that inspired a foundation.

Kyle Marshall

What is your name and your current occupation?
Kyle Marshall -Director/Storyboard Artist/Character Designer.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
During high school and the first couple college summers I worked on a bee farm in small town Saskatchewan. I got destroyed by the bees, and realized fast my future was not in the honey business, but it helped pay for school. I then planted trees for one summer living out of a tent for a few months in northern Alberta and Saskatchewan.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Just finished Directing the pilot for Michael Rex’s Fangbone. Really cool series of books, and proud to be part of that pilot.

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business? 
I grew up in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Canada. Always wanted to get in film and TV growing up, and ended up in a small animation college. Originally planned to study animation and live action, but fell for animation, and now here we are.
