My name is Faye Hsu, i am a concept artist based in San Francisco:)

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Crazy job? hmm…..i used to be a model for photography.  I tried crazy makeup/costume to get a good photo shot.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I am proud that i have been a part team creating <Green Haven> by awesome director James Parris. This is the first feature movie i worked on. It is great experience work with James.

How did you become interested in animation?

What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Weihao Wei. I am currently working as a free lancing concept artist. My clients are Syndicate Alpha Software, Soft Reset Studio and Snaketakes studio.
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I worked at Subway sandwich shop for a year; this is by far the craziest one I guess?

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
The project at Soft reset studio, I am in charge of all the art direction of the unannounced adventure game, there are a lot of talented people in the team and I am very proud to be a part of it and see the game develops from scratch to a near-prototype stage.

How did you become interested in animation?

Goran Bukvic

What is your name and your current occupation?
Goran Bukvic. I call myself a Concept Artist.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I directed and hosted a radio show in Sarajevo, Bosnia during the war. I was also a war journalist and a reporter. Before that, my family owned a chain of pastry shops so I was a part time pastry chef for a while.  During the first months in Canada (end of ’94), I did security on movie sets and sold alarm systems door to door.

 

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Some of my favorite ones have either been canned or are still in production, so I can’t really say what they are. I will say that I did some work for Batman, Tron, and Halo and those were all tons of fun to work on. Challenging but fun.

How did you become interested in animation?
I suppose it was a combination of my lifelong love for art and interest in comic books and cartoons. It also seemed like a good career choice in terms of financial stability and finally being able to be a professional artist. Boy, Continue reading

Riccardo Messi

What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Riccardo Messi and I am currently working as a concept artist and character designer in New York.
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I had my first job in a ceramic factory. My main duty there was to design decorations for new products and collections.  I have also worked as a music teacher and concept artist for amusement parks; then, finally, I entered the world of animation.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Basically I am proud of all my work, because behind each stage of my carrer there has been a path to get me there.  Because of its popularity I would say WInx Club, an Italian animated series that has been a huge hit in many countries around the world, makes me the proudest, as well as having done storyboards for Disney Channel commercials in Italy.

Luis Gadea

What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is Luis Gadea. I’m currently a freelance animator/concept artist and I’m gonna start working as a Flash animator for TV series.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I only had one real job before starting in animation. I was a salesman in a call center for a telephone company from Argentina, then thankfully I was hired really young in an animation studio for commercials.

 

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I really don’t have one specific favorite. I think I have learned from every project and each one has given me new skills for the next one. I do have to say that working on commercials was a great experience because each one was very different from the other.

How did you become interested in animation?
