What is your name and your current occupation?
Jason Meier - Fanboy and Chum Chum Supervising Producer at Nickelodeon Animation Studios

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Bus Boy, Park Staff at Lake Casitas Recreation Park, Waiter at a mediocre Italian restaurant where I had to where a tie. Customer service is the pits.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I love working on Fanboy and Chum Chum, but honestly I was super excited to animate my favorite mass murderer, Jason Voorhees in Freddy Vs Jason. It was a childhood dream come true.

How did you become interested in animation?
When I was a kid, Saturday mornings started at 6 am watching any and all cartoons. I would pretty much watch anything that was animated, The Flinstones, Jabber Jaw, The Snorks. Anything but Continue reading

Gordon Hammond

What is your name and your current occupation?
Hello, my name is Gordon Hammond. I am a Character Designer at Nickelodeon where I have been since 2002. I have worked with Butch Hartman on all three of his shows, Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom and now Tuff Puppy…it’s a blast! I have been in the industry since the fall of 1996.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
Well like all of us I guess I have had some wacky jobs. My very fist job back in 9th grade was as a dish washer. All my buddies were working at this Italian restaurant and they got me in. They all made fun of me because I was slow, but I was persistent. I never gave up…sometimes I would be standing with stacks of dirty dishes up to my waist but I always finished, something that I realized would pay off later in life. To all my friends surprise out of the blue one day I was promoted to “Pizza Guy”. When the boss pulled me aside and told me I was so shocked, he said he liked me because I never  gave up!  I told him according to my friends I was slow, he said ” screw those guys, they’re losers…” (haa) Soon after all my friends realizing they had been left behind all applied for Bus Boy jobs. I only worked there for about another year and then quit to focus on School…but there were some great lessons learned.  In the years that followed I worked for a lawn service which was grueling, cut grass at a golf course which as grueling, and worst of all cleaned stables at the local horse track for a buck a stall…not fun and stinky!  After I started Junior college I landed my first Art job at a small studio as a key liner and graphic artist and have worked as Artist ever since, I was 19.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Hmm, actually I have enjoyed everything that I’ve worked on. But I’d probably have to say Fairly OddParents and now Tuff Puppy. Mainly because I know how happy it makes our fans and especially in the case of FOP (Fairly OddParents) how it’s almost a cultural phenomenon.  Above and beyond the work I do on the show I must say the most gratifying part for me is when Continue reading

Nickelodeon Officially Reviving As Told By Ginger For 2017

AS-told-by-gingerAS-told-by-ginger

Movie Pilot.com is reporting that Nickelodeon is rumored to be reviving one of its most beloved shows: As Told By Ginger. They’ve even got some development art up.

nickelodeon-officially-reviving-as-told-by-ginger-for-2017-ginger-foutley-778128 nickelodeon-officially-reviving-as-told-by-ginger-for-2017-miranda-courtney-dodie-and-m-778123

Russell Hicks and Chris Viscardi exclusively told MoviePilot that Nickelodeon in working on an As Told By Ginger revival with the original creator Emily Kapnek on board, the show will focus be a continuation after the events of The Wedding Frame, when the gang is in high school and will focus on the ups and down on the life of Ginger Foutley.

As Told By Ginger, if you remember, follows the all-too-relatable trials and tribulations of Ginger Foutley, a grade schooler just trying to find her place in this great, confusing world. There were episodes on breakups, death, depression, and other real-life things that made it a must-watch.

Henrique Jardim

What is your name and your current occupation?
I am Henrique Jardim, currently a storyboard artist at Floyd County Productions on the upcoming animated series “Unsupervised” on FX. It’s a flash animated show made right here in the US of A.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I suppose you could say that what I am now is my crazier job because it’s my first ever ACTUAL job that isn’t freelance. But the oddest gig I’ve had is when an online gambling company from Crete contacted me out of nowhere offering me a freelance storyboard gig. I named a price and they went for it without haggling… that to me was the craziest part. I am part of a new generation of graduates who were released into a disappointing (and scary) job market. Even before graduating, I applied to many franchises like Coldstone, Home Depot, Target, etc. with no luck. With the way things were going, I’m surprised I have a steady animation job currently.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I was an intern at Titmouse over in Hollywood and had a chance to animate on “China, IL” and on “Black Dynamite”. But if I am to be truthful, it means I have to be the self-centered jerk that I am. So my absolute favorite project so far was a short pilot I made produced by Nickelodeon. They were such great people to work with and I was able to create something that was very “me”. The greatest part was that I was in charge of my own art and whatever decision I made mattered.
How did you become interested in animation?
I always wanted to be a pro skateboarder, but I was a lousy skater. Come one summer when I was in 9th grade when all my friends were traveling, I started messing with Macromedia Flash 5 (I bet kids these days have never heard of such a thing). I found myself animating for days straight. The more I did it, Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
Becky Wangberg. I am the Executive Assistant to Butch Hartman on TUFF Puppy and The Fairly Odd Parents.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I used to be an Office Manager for a small production company that mainly does commercials and music videos. Before I got hired I was their intern, and my first weeks there I had to clean the garage and clean the BBQ. I also did the weekly grocery shopping, and even acted as a personal chef and valet driver.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I co-wrote a short film that combines live action, CG & 2D animation, and it just got accepted into its 50th film festival! I’m also currently developing a drama pilot with some friends that I’m really excited about.

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I’m from Sacramento, CA and I got my degree in Screenwriting at Chapman University. When I was in school, I interned at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio and loved the culture there. Though I actually interned in Live Action Development and Current Series, we were stationed at the Animation Studio, and it became my goal to Continue reading
