What is your name and your current occupation?
Kenn McDonald. I’m an animation supervisor for Dreamworks on the Dragons tv series.

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I don’t know if I’ve had a truly crazy job. I’ve made pizza, served ice-cream and taught English in Japan. The coolest job outside animation I had was working at a fine art foundry that cast bronze statues. That was a gas.

 

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Going way back to my 2d days I’d say Cat’s Don’t Dance. I love that movie and it was one of the best times I’ve had on a production. Some other high points would be Stuart Little 2, Beowulf, which was my first gig as a supervisor and Watchmen. I’m having a great time on Dragons now.

How did you become interested in animation?

John Mahoney


What is your name and your current occupation?
My name is John Mahoney and I am an independent film maker, college professor at Cal Arts and USC and a freelance Concept Designer/sculptor.

 

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I worked as a bicycle messenger in New York City for one day, in which I got hit by two cars and I ran over two people with my bike!

 

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I really enjoyed working on Treasure Planet for Disney, I did concept art and concept sculpture. All together I worked on ten disney films. I also did a short film that won “Hottest Animation in Brazil” you won’t find that one anywhere, it has been banned from the Internet!!!

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
As a teenager I somtimes worked the check-in desk at a motel my parents owned.  I’ve also sold vacuum cleaners.  I never thought would admit that.

What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Batman: The Animated Series.  The Ozzie and Drix series.  Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.  My Gizmo Duck” Ducktales” episodes.  A few others.

How did you become interested in animation?
I went to film school.  I was interested in film, not animation per se.

Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?

George Zaleski, currently finishing producing an educational video for the CA school system called “Invaders from around the world”
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I worked for an Air force Research Lab as a photography assistant. I got to take pictures of jets and copters used for radio research. Funny thing is that I got the job by putting “coke dealer” on my resume , because I managed a soda machine in college. That made me stand out from the rest.
