What is your name and your current occupation?
I work as a visual development artist (sometimes only as a color stylist) and character designer for projects in games, animation and commercials.
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I did an internship as a personal assistant for a fashion designer named Bahar Korcan. Since I moved to the States for college and stayed, I wasn’t able to pursue anything outside the limits of my degree.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
It’s really more about the people I work with for me, but if I were to look back as individual projects I’d probably say the 30ft digital display on top of Target HQ in Minneapolis, the interactive Rome music video by Chris Milk, and anything I was a part of at Elastic.
Where are you from and how did you get into the animation business?
I’m originally from Turkey. I came to the States to study at Otis College Of Art And Design. I tried to venture out as much as possible and upon graduating I was Continue reading

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I’ve been an event photographer in clubs for 2 years in Milan, while studying for my Bachelor of Arts. Three to four times a week I used to start shooting picture of happy drunk people around 1am and keep going for another three hours. It was kind of fun, I met a lot of interesting, weird people, but the day after at university I always looked like a zombie.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
My last short Flash film, “The Collector”, was a lot of fun during the design stage and I am really happy about how it looks. I love how the idea for the film itself developed from a quick sketch until I found the right design to be animated in Flash. I am also happy to have worked on a short film for amazing director Roy Hayter, “Alice in Wastland – The Flowers”, I was the director and designer for the opening titles sequence. The two people on my little crew where amazing professionals, a pleasure to work with them.
How did you become interested in animation?
I’ve been interested in storytelling since I was 7 or 8, I guess. The mechanics of how a story works, and what are the tools to tell it, had been always more fascinating to me that Continue reading

What is your name and your current occupation?
I think that I never had a crazy job, because all jobs are necessary, but maybe one time, when I was working as waiter I had to clean a big viscid mass at the bottom of a fridge. I felt like the alien victim.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
Definitely my first animated short film “Origami”. I was working on it for one year. It was exhausting but was worth.
I´m from Spain. Currently I’m unemployed looking for a job or commissions.

Darnell Johnson I am an Illustrator and Visual Development Artist, who enjoys telling stories with color and light.
What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?
I didn’t really have any crazy jobs. Starting in high school I started my own t-shirt airbrush business. I designed business cards, flyers, logos, and painted portraits.
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?
I would have to say the freelance Marvel gig I worked on pencils for “Dog Pool Vs Void Mutt” in “DeadPool Family”. It was my first big professional job. Still fairly new in my career so I’m sure there will be other projects that I’m proud of in the future.
How did you become interested in animation?
I’ve always love to draw since I was little creating my own comics at home. It was my elementary school art teacher Mrs. C who told me one day to draw my own cartoon characters. From that day on I started to develop short stories to design characters for. They weren’t your greatest stories but it was a start. As I got older my appetite for Continue reading

What are some of the crazier jobs you had before getting into animation?Â
I wish I had some stories about odd jobs, but honestly I really don’t. Besides, animation is crazy enough as it is…
What are some of your favorite projects you’re proud to have been a part of?Â
My first professional gig is also the one of which I’ve been most proud. Years ago I worked as a concept and story artist on the feature film “9” directed by Shane Acker. I was incredibly green, but I learned so much working closely with Shane as his assistant during the development stage of the feature, and then Continue reading
